Why do I need a Primer?

A primer is like a hero for our products, it magically extends their lifespan. It ensures that our paints and plasters adhere better to the surface, allowing for an even and durable finish. With one of our primers, your end result will be more long-lasting than ever before!

Our fantastic coarse EcoPrimer works wonders on slightly damaged surfaces. It fills in small scratches and dents, giving your paint or plaster layer a smooth and sleek appearance. As a bonus, primer also reduces the absorbency of the substrate, meaning you’ll need less of our product. But that’s not all! A primer also creates a neutral base, helping the colour of your paint to truly shine. Quite a few brilliant benefits, right? Let’s take a look at the different primers we offer.

Why use a Microcement Primer?

The Microcement primer is our veteran in the primer family. Specially developed to prepare surfaces for our Microcement, this primer is easy to apply with a brush or microfibre roller. It ensures excellent adhesion of the Microcement to the surface. Preparation is key here, on the product page of this primer, you'll easily find which surfaces it’s suitable for and the best way to apply it.

The benefits of our EcoPrimer

The EcoPrimer is betonlook.nl’s absolute favourite. This champion reduces the absorbency of the surface, making it ideal for gypsum or freshly plastered walls. What’s more, EcoPrimer ensures excellent adhesion for all our paint types. So you won’t have to worry about the paint peeling off, which ultimately extends the lifespan of your paintwork. EcoPrimer is completely ecological and CO2-neutral, making it an environmentally friendly choice. Apply it effortlessly with a brush or roller.

Why choose the coarse EcoPrimer?

Coarse EcoPrimer is the perfect base for heavier paint or plaster types, such as Texture paint, Loam paint, or our beloved Loam plaster. This primer is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use and works particularly well in slightly damp spaces like basements. The coarse EcoPrimer contains a sandy texture, which makes it unsuitable for more refined paint finishes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it always necessary to use a primer?

Yes, for our Lime paint it is essential to always use one of our EcoPrimers. While standard paints from DIY stores often use a basic primer, for our paints you use EcoPrimer. This primer creates a neutral base and ensures that our Lime paint adheres optimally to the wall.

Do I need a primer for Concrete effect paint?

Yes, a primer is always necessary when applying Concrete effect paint. It ensures you have a neutral base and that the paint adheres well to the surface. Instead of a standard primer, you use our EcoPrimer with Betonlook.nl products. This primer is specially designed for use with our paints, including Concrete effect paint. Note that the EcoPrimer is semi-transparent, so it’s important to cover the entire wall, even though the primer won’t be fully opaque.

Do I need a primer when using Japandi paint?

Yes, a primer is required for all our textured paints, including Japandi paint. For rooms with a lot of condensation or textured surfaces, we recommend using the coarse EcoPrimer. For smooth surfaces or wood, the standard EcoPrimer is the right choice.

Do I need a primer for Concrete effect paint Plus?

Yes, a primer is also necessary for Concrete effect paint Plus. For rooms with high condensation, such as laundry rooms or bathrooms, we recommend the coarse EcoPrimer. For smooth walls, like in living rooms, the standard EcoPrimer is the right choice. Both primers ensure optimal adhesion of the paint to the surface.
