Why choose a Microcement wall?
If you’re after a timeless concrete look that lasts for years, Microcement is the number one choice. It requires slightly more work than our paint ranges, and the protective coating makes the surface easy to clean.
It’s ideal for busy households, hallways or homes with children. Some customers even apply Microcement on everything – from the stairs to the walls and even the dining table – creating a stunning wabi-sabi effect.
Choose from kits in different m² sizes. Each kit contains all essentials to achieve the concrete effect your wall deserves. Keep in mind that Microcement is a thin plaster, so it will not fill holes.
You apply Microcement using a trowel in two layers of approx. 0.3–0.6 mm each.
Want to use Microcement in the bathroom? Order an extra layer of coating for additional protection.
Betonlook’s tips for a flawless Microcement wall
Substrate
You need a smooth and solid surface. In living spaces this is usually a gypsum-based plaster; in bathrooms a cement-based plaster such as Ardex R1C.
The substrate must be fully dry. If the wall has just been plastered, dilute the primer 1:1 with water.
Microcement must always be applied on a hard, stable surface – never on flexible layers.
Application
Apply with a trowel in two layers, working diagonally downward to avoid visible lines.
Tip for preventing fast drying
Is the product drying too quickly and becoming stiff? Use a plant sprayer to lightly mist the wall. This keeps the product workable and prevents marks.
Taping
Remove masking tape immediately after applying each layer to prevent raised edges.
