You want to order a Clay paint colour sample, but what exactly is Clay paint?

Clay paint is a 100% ecological paint. It consists of white clay, marble powder, plant starch, cellulose fibres, a small amount of methylcellulose and a rich concentration of dry natural pigments. The result? A beautiful powdery appearance on your wall. Clay paint also dries quickly, allowing you to complete your project in no time.

Step into the world of Clay paint colours

Each sample is lovingly hand-painted in our warehouse, giving you an accurate representation of the colour. With 30 beautiful shades to choose from, we offer a colourful adventure for every interior. We use natural pigments and secret recipes to achieve the perfect palette. Despite our efforts to ensure consistency, slight colour variations may occur between the sample and the final product due to factors such as pigment sources and production batches. But rest assured — we always strive to match your chosen shade as closely as possible.

Clay paint application

Keep in mind that Clay paint is not water-resistant, making it ideal for dry areas such as living rooms, bedrooms or children’s rooms. Clay paint is also an excellent choice for people sensitive to allergies, asthma or respiratory issues. Thanks to its fully natural ingredients, Clay paint produces no strong odours or fumes during application, meaning you can paint safely — even during pregnancy. So when those nesting instincts kick in, it’s the perfect time to start painting!

Questions about Loam paint? We have the answers!

What exactly is Clay paint?

Clay paint is a 100% ecological wall paint made from natural ingredients. It consists of white loam, marble powder, plant-based starch, and cellulose fibres — without any synthetic binders or titanium dioxide. Thanks to this pure composition, Clay paint is fully breathable, mould-resistant, and hypoallergenic.

How do I apply Clay paint?

Apply the paint in two coats using our Concrete effect brush (3 × 14 cm). Work in half-moon and gentle downward strokes to create a lively, natural effect. With 1 kg of Clay paint, you can cover approximately 6 to 8 m² of wall in two coats.

On which surfaces can I apply Clay paint?

Clay paint can be applied to solid, natural surfaces such as lime plaster, lime-cement plaster, exterior stucco, and brick. Gypsum plaster or plasterboard are also suitable, provided they are properly prepared with EcoPrimer. The surface should be dry, stable, and clean.

Avoid applying the paint on wood, oil-based paint layers, chalking lime paint, or surfaces with a plastic coating, as Clay paint will not adhere properly to these materials.

Is Clay paint suitable for humid spaces such as bathrooms?

No, Clay paint is not suitable for humid spaces like bathrooms or basements. It’s designed for dry indoor areas, where it helps create a healthy and natural indoor climate. For humid spaces, it’s better to choose Lime paint, Concrete effect paint, or Japandi paint and for wet zones, microcement is the best option.

How should I prepare the surface before applying Clay paint?

The surface should consist of one uniform material and be smooth. The best results are achieved on plaster or a previously painted wall. Lightly sand the wall, remove any dust, and then apply EcoPrimer. Once it’s dry, you can start applying the Clay paint.
