Frequently asked questions

What is Lime paint and where can I use it?

Lime paint is a natural paint made from marble powder, water, and lime. It’s often used to give walls and ceilings a unique, matte finish. Thanks to its natural look and feel, Lime Paint complements a wide range of interior styles — from rustic and Mediterranean to Scandinavian, minimalist, vintage, contemporary, and modern.

What is the difference between Lime paint and Concrete effect paint?

Concrete effect paint is mixed to order in your chosen colour. The colour is created using wet pigments, based on a precise recipe from our mixing machine.
Lime paint, on the other hand, comes with a small bag of dry pigments. This is also a recipe, but one we prepare by hand using our own pigment jars. You mix the pigments yourself with a little water before adding them to the paint.

For colours with a small amount of pigment, use a ratio of 50 ml of water per 1 litre of paint. For colours with more pigment, use 100 ml of water per 1 litre of paint. When a recipe contains a high pigment load, it becomes difficult to create a smooth mixture without lumps, so the extra water helps you achieve an even, silky result.

In short: both types of paint create a beautiful, natural finish.

Is it always necessary to use a primer?

Yes, for our Lime paint it’s essential to always use one of our EcoPrimers. While standard paints from DIY stores often require a regular primer, our paints need EcoPrimer instead.
This primer creates a neutral base and ensures that our Lime Paint adheres perfectly to the wall for the best possible result.

Can I clean Lime paint?

No, Lime paint is not resistant to stains and cannot simply be wiped clean. If you’d like to make it washable, we recommend adding Paint Protect. This is a 100% ecological coating made from eggshells that provides extra protection for your Lime Paint. With this coating, you can gently wipe the surface with a slightly damp cloth. Keep in mind, however, that it may add a subtle sheen in natural or artificial light, which can slightly soften the matte finish of the Lime paint.
