Base coat for a microcement floor – the perfect start for your surface
A durable microcement floor starts with a solid base. Our ready-to-use base coat is designed as the technical layer between the levelled floor and the microcement finish. You apply the paste in a thin layer of around 1 mm, ensuring perfect adhesion for the top coat. Whether you want a microcement floor in your living room or a microcement finish in your kitchen, this first step determines the quality of the end result.
Why the base coat is essential
The base coat ensures strong adhesion and long-term stability. Thanks to its coarse texture, this layer is more resistant to wear than the microcement top coat. This prevents detachment or cracking.
If you want a microcement floor with underfloor heating, that’s no problem. First follow the heating-up protocol: once the levelling compound has been applied, turn the heating fully on and let the floor warm up completely, then cool down entirely. This prevents shrinkage and reduces the risk of cracks by about 90%.
Applying a microcement floor yourself
Our base coat is a ready-to-use paste that is coloured to your chosen shade. Apply it using a 250 mm or 350 mm trowel for floors. Prefer a more textured look? Use a smaller trowel, but keep in mind that this adds extra working time.
Prices for applying a microcement floor
Applying it yourself costs around € 22,95 per m². If you prefer a professional finish, you can hire an installer. They offer complete packages from levelling to the final microcement application. Prices range from € 80 – € 90 per m² in the east of the Netherlands, with higher rates in the west.
