Create the perfect concrete look for outdoor use

Are you a fan of the Marrakesh style or Scandinavian design? Whether you dream of a warm patio with a Mediterranean atmosphere or a serene Scandinavian outdoor space: with our concrete effect exterior paint, you give your façades and walls just the right character. And that combined with durability, simplicity and robustness.

We offer various products that are suitable for outdoor use. The most important factor is proper preparation of the substrate, so the concrete look remains beautiful and long-lasting.

Preparing the substrate
Exterior walls endure a lot: rain, sun and frost. That’s why a successful exterior painting project starts with a stable substrate. Clean and dry the surface, and use our EcoPrimer Coarse for optimal adhesion of your exterior paint. Make sure the surface stays dry for at least 3 days before you start.

The best concrete effect paints for outdoor use
The favourite for outdoor applications is our Texture paint. This paint provides a robust appearance and looks stunning on solid surfaces such as lime mortar, exterior plaster or façades. For outdoor use, we always recommend choosing soft pastel shades. Bright colours like red are a definite no-go, as SP pigments are not suitable for exterior use.

In our webshop, you can easily apply the outdoor filter. This ensures the colour you choose is suitable for your outdoor painting project.

In addition to Texture paint, our Lime paint, concrete effect paint and Japandi paint are also suitable for outdoor use. On solid surfaces, always use these paints in combination with EcoPrimer coarse. Please note: none of these products are suitable for wood.

Important considerations for outdoor use
Our exterior paints are breathable natural mineral products, making them highly resistant to normal weather conditions such as rain, sunlight and frost.

Please note: no breathable paint is resistant to continuous running water. If rainwater repeatedly runs over the same area from a roof edge, window sill or downpipe, streaks or dirt marks may develop over time.

To prevent this, ensure that rainwater is diverted away from the wall by using a drip edge, flashing or another suitable drainage solution.

Using Lime Paint, Japandi Paint or Texture Paint? Also take care around zinc or copper gutters and downpipes. Rainwater running over these materials may cause discolouration of the mineral finish.

Concrete-look outdoor spaces – frequently asked questions

Can I protect my exterior paint?

Yes, that is possible. For this, use our ecological paint coating, which can be ordered via info@betonlook.nl. This coating provides extra protection against dirt and rainwater and is also suitable for outdoor use.

Is concrete effect paint for outdoor use environmentally friendly?

Yes. Our Texture paint is even 100% ecological. Concrete effect paint, Lime paint and Japandi paint consist of 97% natural ingredients. So you can use them with peace of mind.

Can I use Texture paint or Lime paint outdoors near a zinc or copper downpipe?

Yes, you can, but be cautious. Rainwater carries small metal particles, which can react with the lime in the paint. This causes dark or greenish streaks on the wall.

How can I protect my wall from stains caused by a downpipe or gutter?

Try to redirect the rainwater as much as possible. You can use a drainage channel or properly finish the downpipe. Sometimes protecting the metal itself with a coating can also help.

Can I use concrete effect paint outdoors on wood?

No, our concrete effect products are not suitable for wood. Wood expands and contracts too much due to moisture and temperature, which can cause the paint to crack, peel and fade.

Can I use concrete effect paint outdoors on plasterboard?

Yes, you can, as long as the plasterboard is not directly exposed to rainwater. For example, under a canopy or roof. In that case, use the standard EcoPrimer as a base.
