Concrete look toilet? Choose paint or plaster

Would you like to create a concrete look toilet or concrete look WC but are unsure which products are suitable? Both paint and plaster are possible, depending on the look and use of your toilet. A concrete look toilet offers many benefits: it looks stylish and modern and is super low-maintenance. There are no joints or seams that can discolour. So it’s a real win-win.

The Microcement bathroom package is the perfect solution for your toilet
Especially for spaces such as the bathroom and toilet, we’ve developed the Microcement bathroom package. You can choose from two variants: one for walls and one for floors. This is necessary, as the preparation for a wall is slightly different from that for a floor.

We assume you're starting with a smooth substrate:

  • Floor: ensure the substrate is properly levelled with a cement-based self-levelling compound — this is always suitable for both toilet and bathroom. As an alternative, you can also use Ardex A950 for preparation. On top of that, simply apply our Microcement bathroom floor package.
  • Walls: these can be smoothly plastered with gypsum, after which you apply the Microcement bathroom wall package.

A major advantage of these packages is that a double coating layer is included as standard. This gives your Microcement toilet optimal protection against moisture and dirt, while remaining highly low-maintenance.

Painting toilet tiles with a concrete look
Still have old tiles in your toilet? Instead of tearing everything out, you can simply give them a second life. The tiles must first be levelled so that the joints become flat. You can then finish the surface with a concrete look.

Depending on the location, choose Microcement (waterproof and hygienic – ideal around the sink and floor) or concrete effect paint (for walls that don’t get wet). This way, you can give your toilet area a modern concrete look makeover quickly and affordably.

Combining a concrete look toilet with paint
You don’t always have to finish the entire toilet with Microcement. A smart solution is to apply Microcement or tiles on the floor and the walls around the sink, and paint the remaining walls with concrete effect paint.

The paint provides the same bold look but is not naturally water-repellent. Want better protection? Then choose our Bio paint coating as a top layer. This also protects the walls in your toilet, making them easier to keep clean.

This way, you combine the practical benefits of Microcement with the simplicity and affordability of paint – without compromising on appearance. Check out our inspiration page for examples of a concrete look toilet and discover which style suits you best.

Alles wat je over je betonlook toilet wilt weten

Is a Microcement toilet waterproof?

Yes, a Microcement toilet is fully waterproof thanks to the double coating layer. It is therefore easy to keep clean.

How much does a concrete look toilet cost?

The price depends on the chosen finish. If you choose a bathroom package, you’ll spend between €52.95 per m² and €59.95, depending on whether it’s for the floor or the wall. Looking for a more affordable option? You can also do (part of) the walls with our textured paint types. These cost €8.24 per m².

Can I paint WC tiles in a concrete look?

Not directly! First, check that the tiles are securely attached. Then you can level them with a plaster layer. After that, you can apply any of our products, as you’ll have a smooth surface.

Which paint is water-repellent for the toilet?

Our Microcement combined with coating is 100% water-repellent. Are you using concrete effect paint? Then finish it with Bio paint coating, so your painted walls are better protected too.

What is the difference between a concrete look toilet with paint or with plaster?

With Microcement plaster, you get a seamless, waterproof and low-maintenance result. Concrete effect paint gives the same look but is more decorative and suitable for dry walls. A combination is also possible: Microcement or tiles by the sink, and paint on the remaining areas.
